In a world that moves fast, where the demands of work and life constantly vie for our attention, managing time can feel like an uphill battle. With responsibilities piling up, exercise often finds itself at the bottom of our priority list, if it makes the list at all.
But what if we could shift that perspective? Imagine being able to feel different about exercise, making it an essential part of your daily routine and something you want to do rather than a neglected afterthought.
We can help you at our Women's gym in Bourne End.
In the meantime here's some advice on how to think about fitness as a priority for yourself.
Understanding Fitness as a Need
Viewing physical activity as a choice often leads to an internal debate about whether to do it or not, which is like an exhausting tug of war with no reward. Feeling guilty or that you can't do it, is also a drain on precious energy that can be better spent. Seeing exercise as an essential, like sleeping or eating, can remove the mental noise that often complicates decision-making.
Overcoming Barriers to Fitness
Allow the room to do things gradually and in time with your need. Often the decision to start doing any form of exercise can come with other considerations like diet and lifestyle changes. Starting with small steps helps stop the spiral of overwhelm and is good practice for going forward. Taking it one block at a time creates habits instead of one-offs.
The bigger picture is how to make those habits last.
Reclaim Your Time
Start by being intentional, consistently. This one hour in the week/in the day is mine and I'm expected in class. Routine plays just as big a factor in training the brain as doing the activities.
It also helps when the activity is enjoyable which is why we rotate our programmes and have different class types, finding the right fit & coming away feeling good makes you want to go back.

Our space is nothing like a clinical gym environment, it has been created for comfort. One of our members refers to it as a safe space and that's exactly what it should feel like. No judgement or airbrushed models here!
Many of our members come with absolutely no strength training experience and have never lifted a weight. After 8 weeks all of them can lift well, have lost inches and are more toned. The ripple effect - other activities are easier, less tired overall, more energy for the day & generally happier.
Personalizing Your Fitness
Start listening to your body, it is the best instrument we have for fitness and it will tell you when something needs attention. Tell our coaches and we will help with whatever we can.
And learn to rest.
We have a class dedicated to recovery and slowing things down to help listen to the body. We're building pathways to help body and brain work together and be stronger.
Building a Supportive Environment
Bringing friends, or making them during activities can make things less daunting - it helps to know people are in it with you. We have friend groups and people who have got to know each other through classes, it creates a lovely environment to be a part of. And it's inspiring.
Last but certainly not least - give yourself a break. The old saying is best here: Rome was not built in a day. Start small, think big. We will support you!
